Pupils at UCFS celebrate world book day - 02/03/2018

Year 3 and 5 pupils from the University Church Free School (UCFS) celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 1st March. The children dressed as their favourite book characters before paying a visit to the Waterstone’s Book store in Chester.

They children were greeted by The Cat in the Hat and had a tour of the children’s department. The Cat in the Hat read an extract from of the children’s favourite storybooks, The Twits, by Roald Dhal.

The children were able to swap their book vouchers for one of the World Book Day £1 books at the store.

One pupil, Leo said: “The bookshop was great, they have loads of fantastic books. I am coming back at the weekend with my pocket money.” Another pupil, Maisie added: “I loved dressing up as Mary Poppins, she is from my favourite story book.”

Miss Gill, Teacher at UCFS said: “The children had a great time look at all the fantastic new book and classic titles.”
